چکیده

delayed chondrocyte differentiation since Indian hedgehog (Ihh) is not expressed in the ulna of Ulnaless or Hoxa11//d11/ mice. Fibroblast growth factor 3 (Fgfr3), which is expressed at low levels in distal cells and at high levels in columnar chondrocytes, shows low expression in the Ulnaless and Hoxa11//d11/ zeugopod resembling the expression level in distal chondrocytes. However, the Unique cartilage matrix-associated protein (UCMA), a specific marker for distal chondrocytes, is only expressed in the outermost cell layers in ulna and radius of both mutant mouse lines. These results indicate that chondrocyte differentiation is arrested at an early step in Ulnaless and Hoxa11/d11 double mutant mice, before the differentiation of distal and columnar chondrocytes takes place.

Artificial Induction of Sox21 Regulates Sensory Cell Formation in the Embryonic Chicken Inner Ear

During embryonic development, hair cells and support cells in the sensory epithelia of the inner ear derive from progenitors that express Sox2, a member of the SoxB1 family of transcription factors. Sox2 is essential for sensory specification, but high levels of Sox2 expression appear to inhibit hair cell differentiation, suggesting that factors regulating Sox2 activity could be critical for bo...

Two distinct subgroups of Group B Sox genes for transcriptional activators and repressors: their expression during embryonic organogenesis of the chicken

Group B Sox genes, Sox1, -2 and -3 are known to activate crystallin genes and to be involved in differentiation of lens and neural tissues. Screening of chicken genomic sequences for more Group B Sox genes identified two additional genes, Sox14 and Sox21. Proteins encoded by Sox14 and Sox21 genes are similar to each other but distinct from those coded by Sox1-3 (subgroup B1) except for the HMG ...

Differential expression of Sox2 and Sox3 in neuronal and sensory progenitors of the developing inner ear of the chick.

The generation of the mechanosensory elements of the inner ear during development proceeds in a precise temporal and spatial pattern. First, neurosensory precursors form sensory neurons. Then, prosensory patches emerge and give rise to hair and supporting cells. Hair cells are innervated by cochleovestibular neurons that convey sound and balance information to the brain. SOX2 is an HMG transcri...

Macrophage migration inhibitory factor acts as a neurotrophin in the developing inner ear.

This study is the first to demonstrate that macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF), an immune system 'inflammatory' cytokine that is released by the developing otocyst, plays a role in regulating early innervation of the mouse and chick inner ear. We demonstrate that MIF is a major bioactive component of the previously uncharacterized otocyst-derived factor, which directs initial neurite ...

P 129: The Role of Overexpression Transcription Factor BRN 4 in Multiple Sclerosis

Adult neurogenesis is a process of producing nerve cells from their progenitor that occurs in some areas in the brain such as the hypothalamus. Low activity in this area plays a role in neural degeneration and diseases such as multiple sclerosis, epilepsy and depression. MS is a neurodegenerative disease with a permanent disability that the main reason for it is axonal degeneration and neuronal...
